Crappie pond

To help promote a lifelong love of fishing to young people and families.

Sunfish Pond is a children’s fishing pond at the community activity center, which helps foster a lifelong love of fishing among youth and families. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources supplies the pond with bluegills.
Fishing hours are spring through fall from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The pond is closed during the winter months (when the water is frozen). You can fish from a floating jetty and a riverside bridge. Make sure you have a fishing license! You can get a fishing license here.

Rules

  • If you are 16 or older, you must have a valid Minnesota fishing license in your name. (You can purchase a license at City Hall, Mill’s Fleet Farm at 8400 Lakeland Avenue North, any Holiday gas station, and most sporting goods stores.)
  • Adults can fish if accompanied by a child fishing.
  • You can keep the fish you catch or you can catch and release.
  • Do not cut fish while they are still alive
  • Do not fish from the shore. It tramples the plantations which help to resist erosion.
