City seeks feedback on Community Activity Center improvements

In 2018, residents of Brooklyn Park approved a $26 million park bond. Since then, many improvements have been made, including the construction of the Brooklyn Park Sports Dome, reinvestments in the park, trail upgrades, and field improvements. The next phase of planning for Park Bond includes improvements to the community activity centre.

As part of the 2018 Park Bond Referendum, $4 million was identified to improve the entrance to the Community Activity Center and build a venue for seniors’ activities. An additional $2 million was spent on the construction of a new recreation center for young people.

An aquatic facility has been discussed many times over the years. Results from the 2021 resident survey indicated that 76% of attendees would be likely or somewhat likely to use an aquatic facility at the Community Activity Centre. In the same poll, 79% of participants said they would support or strongly support a property tax increase of $3.44 per month, or $41.28 per year, on a median value home for 20 years to build an aquatic facility.

The City of Brooklyn Park is now asking residents to complete a new survey that will assess which amenities are most important to the community in each specific area and if a water feature were to be built, which features residents would prefer.

Please take a moment to complete a survey that will guide city leaders as they pursue improvements to the community activity center. Your input is extremely valuable!

Once the survey is complete, residents will have the opportunity to enter a draw to win one of 4 $25 gift cards to The Brooklyn restaurant.
