The new Grand First Church of Thomasville culminated its dedication of the Dr. CL Hogue Activity Center, Feb. 6, with a community-wide celebration.
The service was marked with a city proclamation presented by Mayor Sheldon Day as well as a proclamation presented by State Representative Thomas Jackson. Many clergy and civic leaders were present. Clarke County Commissioners Rhodell Rhone and Tyrhone Moye attended. Thomasville Councilmen Reid Smith, Charles Allen and Roy L. Madison came out to join in the praise and celebration.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Darryl Caldwell, pastor of the Church of Antioch of Troy. He is also the second vice president of the Alabama Baptist State Convention. The New Greater First Baptist Church has been a beacon in the Thomasville community for over 146 years.
Members of New Greater First Baptist Church would like to express their gratitude to the City of Thomasville and the community.
Many local businesses have helped bring the activity center to life.
The church would like to express its gratitude to Clarke Air (Cecil Thompson), Jeremy Henson Development, George Baldwin Demolition, Morrisset Construction (Charles Morrisset), Pine Hill Excavating (Ronald Criswell), Dwayne McDaniel’s Video Systems and Bishop Welding (Mike Bishop) along with subcontractors in the region.
The church looks forward to continuing to serve the community as it continues to be “About Father’s Business”.
The activity center was designed by Exford Architectural of Birmingham.
